The Boobytraps formed in 2007 & the current line-up has been in place since 2008.
In June 2008 the band recorded their debut EP entitled ‘Sooner Or Later’ & launched at The Charlotte Leicester. That night saw the first live performance of the smash 'Anthemic track' - ‘My Town.’
The title track ’Sooner or Later’ received immediate local radio airplay & front-man Jamie Williams gave his first live radio interview.Since then the band have gone on to receive regular radio interest from BBC Radio Leicester, Nottingham & BBC Radio6 digital.
In October 2009 work commenced on the second EP, ‘Estate Of Mind’ & included 3 of the bands best known tracks – ‘Don’t Even Matter’ ‘Tell Your Friends’ & their own massive anthem ‘My Town.’
In August 2010 the band was invited to play the Leicester Summer Sundae Fringe Festival at The Shed – the biggest capacity venue of the event.
To date The Boobytraps have played main stage headline slots at Glastonbudget New Act & Tribute Festival 2010 & 2011, support slots to Detroit Social Club, Little Man Tate’s Jon Windle & Leicester's The Screening.
In summer 2011 the band recorded new material with Detroit Social Club's Dave Burn at his Newcastle Studio, & released a 10 track digital album through iTunes.
The band have also played several small regional festivals & secured gigs across counties to increase their profile, exposure & fanbase. Venues have included Liverpool's Lomax & Cavern Clubs, Coventry's Kasbah Club, O2 Academy Birmingham, O2 Academy Leicester, London's Hope & Anchor & a looming date at Monto Water Rats.
In 2012 the band hope to raise the bar yet again with appearances at bigger festivals and events, touring supports & more studio time. The "Traps" are ready for the next level.
The band list their influences from rock n roll to indie to britpop & metal.
